Sustainability Through Education

Our Mission
SilverSat’s mission is to promote awareness of space exploration through educational outreach.
Who We Are
SilverSat is a community based non-profit for students in grades 6-12 in Silver Spring, Maryland with a mission of building and launching a CubeSat.
Educational Outreach
In accordance with NASA's 2018 Strategic Plan, we work to inspire and engage the public in aeronautics, space, and science. Our student participants are working to “enhance public understanding of, and participation in, the Nation’s space program” through the use of a social media platform.

Our Mission

SilverSat’s mission is to design, build, and launch a CubeSat that takes pictures of Earth from space and posts on Twitter, allowing for instantaneous sharing and publications of photos and all mission data. SilverSat will be a tech demonstration of a CubeSat using onboard secure IP communications protocols to publish data directly to a social media platform.

SilverSat offers me and other teenagers the opportunity to expand our knowledge in STEM fields. I enjoy being a member of the communications team because I get to practice my coding skills. Our various teams dedicate a lot of time and effort to building our cube satellite, and I can't wait to see the final result!

This is really cool! I wish this program had been available when I was a kid.
