We’re currently looking for individuals with the following skills and expertise to serve as project mentors for 2021. If you are interested in serving as a SilverSat project mentor, please contact us. We’d love to know more about your background!
Microcontrollers Mentor
- Description: Work with the avionics and communications teams on embedded microcontroller designs. As a mentor, this person is leading the kids through the design, not just doing the design themselves.
- Skills and expertise:
- Need a working knowledge of microcontrollers, especially the Atmega family and others used in Arduino boards. Experience in digital electronics design, digital interface techniques (such as SPI, I2C, and UARTs), electronics hardware design, schematic capture and PC board layout.
- Experience with amateur radio (especially packet radio and AX.25) is a plus. Experience with KiCAD is a plus.
- Teaching experience is definitely a plus. Good with kids.
Embedded Systems Mentor
- Description: Work with the payload team on an embedded Raspberry Pi design. As a mentor, this person is leading the kids through the design, not just doing the design themselves.
- Skills and expertise:
- Need experience in embedded processors, especially the Raspberry Pi family or similar. Need experience in embedded software, Raspian, Python, and the operation of TCP/IP networking stacks in an embedded environment.
- Experience with amateur radio (especially packet radio and AX.25) is a plus. Experience with KiCAD is a plus.
- Experience in digital electronics design, schematic capture and PC board layout is desirable.
